A sinner is a person who has broken God’s rules. In church language, a sin is a wrong God does not want, and a sinner is the one who did it. The word is old and serious: the Bible, hymns, and priests use it a lot. Some teachings even say every person is a sinner, because nobody keeps every rule.
A sinner罪人 is a person who has broken God's rules指的是違反了上帝規定的人。 In church language用教會的說法, a sin罪 is a wrong God does not want就是上帝不希望發生的錯事, and a sinner is the one who did it而罪人就是做了那件錯事的人。 The word is old and serious這個字又老又嚴肅: the Bible, hymns, and priests use it a lot聖經、聖詩、神父都常常用它。 Some teachings even say every person is a sinner有些教義甚至說每個人都是罪人, because nobody keeps every rule因為沒有人能守住每一條規定。
Though actually, people also say it with a small smile — “I’m a sinner” can mean only “I did something a bit naughty,” like eating the last . That use is common at the table; in a church the same word still lands as a heavy judgement.
Though actually不過實際上, people also say it with a small smile人們也會帶著一點笑意這樣說—— "I'm a sinner" can mean only "I did something a bit naughty,"「I'm a sinner」有時候只是說「我做了一件有點頑皮的事」, like eating the last biscuit像是把最後一片餅乾吃掉。 That jokey use is common at the table這種開玩笑的用法在餐桌上很常見; in a church the same word still lands as a heavy judgement但同一個字放在教堂裡,還是聽起來很沉重、像是一種審判。
It is not a police word or a school word. You do not call a thief a sinner unless you are speaking in a religious way.
It is not a police word or a school word它不是警察會用的字,也不是學校裡的字。 unless you are speaking in a religious way除非你是用宗教的方式在講話, you do not call a thief a sinner你不會把小偷叫做 sinner。
組成sin (a wrong against God) + -er (a person who does that). From Middle English synnere. Dutch zondaar, German Sünder, Danish synder, Swedish syndare, and Icelandic syndari are cousin words in other languages, not English family.
