If you are single-minded, you have one clear aim and you work very hard for that one thing. You do not keep jumping to a new plan. People often say this as praise: a single-minded student, doctor, or athlete will not give up. Though actually, it can also sound a little sharp. A single-minded person may miss a friend's call, skip rest, or walk past other good things, because their eyes stay on the goal. The word is about having one aim, not about living alone and not about being angry. It feels at home in careful speech and writing; in easy talk, people might just say someone is so focused, or that they only care about one thing.
組成single（一個、只有一個）+ minded（腦子裡裝著某種想法）：心裡只裝著一個目標。
