Shrivelled is the British way of writing the -ed form of shrivel. It can be the past: the leaves shrivelled in the heat. It can also sit in front of a noun, like an adjective: a shrivelled apple, shrivelled skin. The picture is the same as shrivel — smaller, dry, lined. You will see shriveled with one l in American English; both are the same word, and in Britain the double l is the usual dictionary form. It is a describing word more than a fancy one. Though actually, it does two jobs at once: size and texture. A small apple is just small; a shrivelled apple has gone past its best. People also say it of hopes or profits that have dried up, keeping that same feel.
