Shooting is shoot turned into a thing you can name. The picture behind it is someone aiming something at a target and releasing it — most often a gun. From there the word names three different situations built on that same act of aiming and : the violent event, the country sport, and, once cameras borrowed the verb, the work of pointing a camera at people and rolling.
