Shite is another word for shit. It can mean the stuff from the body, or rubbish and nonsense, or something bad. You will hear it a lot in Ireland and Britain, as a noun (“this is shite”), as an adjective (“a shite film”), and as something you spit out when you are (“oh shite”). Though actually, it is not a different idea from shit. It is the same dirty old word with a different shape and a different home. Some people feel it sounds a little more Irish, or a little less sharp, than shit — but it is still rude. Do not say it to a teacher, a customer, or someone's parents.

組成From Middle English shite, schite, scīte (“excrement”), cognate with Middle Low German schīte, Middle High German schīze, and Dutch schijt. Compare Middle English shitel / Old English sċitel. Same family as shit. Doublet of scheisse.
