Shit-hot means extremely good — really skilled, or really impressive. It is rude because of shit, so friends may say it, but you would not say it to a teacher, a customer, or in a job interview. Though actually, the shit here does not mean “bad.” English sometimes flips a dirty word into praise, a bit like calling something wicked when you mean it is great. A shit-hot player is one of the best, not a bad one. You will hear it in informal British and American talk. Some people write shit hot without the hyphen.
