A shaver is the small electric machine people use to take hair off the face, and sometimes the body. You hold it in one hand; it buzzes; little blades under a foil or a set of round heads cut the hair close. In a shop this is the bathroom meaning, and it is the one on the box. It is not, strictly, the same as a razor with a blade you throw away — though actually, people do stretch shaver to mean almost any shaving tool when they are talking loosely. Electric shaver is the full, clear name; shaver alone is what people say when the electric part is already obvious. Neutral, everyday English. (An older, quite different meaning — a young lad — turns up in old books. That is not this machine.)
