A servicewoman is a woman who belongs to the armed forces. The word was built to sit beside serviceman when speakers wanted to name women in uniform clearly. You will hear it in news, official talk, and everyday speech; some people now prefer the gender-neutral service member instead. It is ordinary and respectful, not slang.
