Your self-image is the idea you have of yourself — your looks, your abilities, your character. It lives in your head, and it may be kinder or harsher than what other people see. and psychology textbooks use this word a lot: a positive self-image, a poor self-image. Though actually, image here is not a photo. It is not a selfie, and it is not the picture on your student ID. Image means "the picture in the mind." People also slide it into self-esteem. They sit close: self-image is the picture you hold; self-esteem is more how much worth you give yourself. Useful neighbours, not the same word.
self-image 指你對自己的看法，包括外表、能力和性格。這些看法存在你的腦中，可能比別人看到的更寬容，也可能更嚴厲。心理師和心理學教科書常用這個詞，像「a positive self-image」（正面的自我形象）、「a poor self-image」（不好的自我形象）。這裡的 image 不是照片，也不是自拍或學生證上的相片，指的是腦中的那張畫面。
