Seepage is the slow leaking of a liquid, or sometimes a gas, through tiny holes, cracks, or a material that is not fully sealed. Water creeps through a basement wall; oil creeps through soil; gas creeps through a join. It is not a flood and not a sudden burst — it is a gradual creep you may only notice as a stain, a smell, or a damp patch. You meet the word in news about pollution, old , landfills, and buildings. It is a neutral, slightly technical noun; engineers and reporters use it more than children do, but the idea is simple. The verb is seep: water seeps in. Seepage is that slow flow, or the liquid that has come through.
