The seafront is the part of a town that sits right next to the sea — the street, shops, hotels, and houses that face the beach. British English uses this a lot: a walk along the seafront, hotels on the seafront. In American English people often say waterfront or boardwalk instead. It is the town's edge by the sea, with buildings, not empty coast far from houses, and not the ground under the water (that is the ). Though actually it is about the face of the town toward the sea, not the front of a ship.
