The schilling was the everyday money of Austria until Austria started using the euro in 2002. You will still see it in old prices, history books, and on old coins and notes. It is not spelled like the British shilling, but the two words are twins: they come from the same old Germanic name for a coin. German that sound with sch, so Austria did too. Do not use schilling for money now, unless you are talking about the past.
