Scathingly is how you do the criticizing: you speak scathingly, look scathingly, write scathingly. It is the same hard, cutting tone as scathing, but now it tells you the manner — how someone talks or , not what kind of remark it is. Pair it with a verb.
組成From scathing + -ly, the usual English way of turning an adjective into an adverb.
