1. 1

Sangria is a Spanish mixed drink: red wine stirred with chopped fruit and fruit juice, often served cold in a , sometimes with a splash of something stronger. People drink it in warm weather, at the table with food. Recipes vary from bar to bar; some are quite sweet, some more like wine. The Spanish name sangría comes from sangre, blood, because of the deep red colour. Though actually, you will also meet white sangria made with white wine — the blood-red picture is the original one, not a law. It is alcoholic; it is not a children's fruit punch, even though it looks fruity.
