A long, wide board you stand on to slide down a sand dune, made and used the way a is, but for sand. Your feet are held on the top by straps or bindings, and you ride down the slope standing sideways. The is the important part: sand does not slip like snow, so a sandboard has a hard, very smooth base — often a special plastic called Formica — and riders rub wax on it before every run to make it slide at all. That is why an ordinary works badly on a dune; it is built for a surface that melts a little under you, and sand does not. You will also hear it as a verb, "to sandboard", meaning to do this as a sport. Note that many people ride sitting or lying down on a shorter board instead, and in some places, especially tourist , that sitting version is what you actually get.
滑沙板(沙漠中站著滑沙丘用的板子);台灣的滑沙多半是坐著滑,那種短板也常一起叫滑沙板
組成sand + board — the same 'board' as in surfboard, skateboard and snowboard: a flat plank you stand on to ride.
