Sagacity is the good judgment itself — the quality of seeing clearly and choosing well. You talk about a person's sagacity, or the sagacity of a plan. Very formal, almost old-fashioned. A newspaper might praise a judge's sagacity; a student would say “she has good judgment.” Though actually, sagacity is not the same as knowing many facts. You can fill a head with information and still lack sagacity. Sagacity is the skill of judging — of sensing what matters and what to do next. Same family as ; you will meet all of these words in books more than in speech.

組成From French sagacité, from Latin sagācitās (“sagaciousness”), from sagāx (“of quick perception, acute, sagacious”), from sāgiō (“to perceive by the senses”). Equivalent to sagac(ious) + -ity.
