Sadomasochistic is the adjective. A sadomasochistic relationship, story, film, or habit is one where sexual pleasure is mixed with giving pain, receiving pain, or both. It is a heavy, formal word; SM is what you will hear more often in speech. Though actually, writers sometimes stretch it toward any bond that mixes hurt and desire, even when they are not being strictly sexual or clinical. Still, the home meaning is that sexual mix, not cruelty in general. A cruel boss is not sadomasochistic just because they are hard on people — unless hurt and sexual pleasure are truly part of what you mean.
SM 的;施虐受虐的
組成sadomasochist + -ic. The ending -ic turns the person-noun into an adjective: “of a sadomasochist / of that mix of hurting and being hurt.”
