An RV is a large road vehicle that a family can live in for a while on a trip. Inside there is usually a small kitchen, beds, and often a toilet. People drive it to a campsite and sleep in it instead of a tent or a hotel. RV is short for recreational vehicle, and it is the everyday American word. British speakers more often say camper van or motorhome, though they will understand RV. Though actually people stretch the word: some RVs are huge houses on wheels; some are closer to a van with a bed in the back. It is not a normal family car, and it is not what Taiwanese shops mean by 休旅車 — that is an SUV, a big car you cannot really live in.
