Rubbishy means silly, cheap, or just not good — the kind of thing you would throw away if it were an object, or not take seriously if it were an idea. A film, a book, a gift, or an argument can all be rubbishy. It is informal British English and a bit , though lighter than a cold word like 'worthless.' Americans hardly say it; they are more likely to use trashy or lousy. British speakers can already use rubbish as a kind of adjective ('that's rubbish'), and rubbishy is the -y form, a little like 'full of rubbish.' It is everyday talk, not a school-report word.
