The Rosicrucians are a society — in the stories, a secret society of men — whose name first appears in European writing in the 1600s. The picture around them mixes a Christian sign (a rose on a cross) with hidden wisdom, magic, and talk of spirits. in those years announced such a brotherhood. Historians still argue how much of that first group was a real club of people, and how much was a story on paper. There are also modern groups, especially in the United States, that use the same name and say they continue the old order. Whether they truly do is a claim, not something you can check like a date on a map. The original stories speak of men; some modern groups are mixed. The word is almost always plural as a group name: the Rosicrucians. One member is a Rosicrucian.
