1. 1

A Rollerblade is a boot with one straight line of wheels under it, used for skating on smooth, hard ground — a path, a park, a sports hall. Though actually, Rollerblade started as a brand name. One company made this kind of skate, and the name spread: many people now say rollerblades for any skate with that single row of wheels. The older roller skate is different: it has two pairs of wheels, one under the toes and one under the heel. You can also use it as a verb: to Rollerblade is to skate on them. In careful writing some people prefer inline skates, but in everyday talk rollerblades is what you will hear.
