- 1
A right-thinking person, in the speaker's eyes, has sensible, decent opinions. The set phrase all right-thinking people is a favourite of speeches and editorials, as if every good person must already agree. Though actually, that is a trick of tone: the speaker has dressed their own view in the word right. It is very close to right-minded, and a little . You will see it in writing more than you will hear it from teenagers. Kind on the surface; a bit underneath.
觀念正派的;思想端正的(常聽到 all right-thinking people,口氣像「正常人都會這麼想」)
組成right (proper, decent) + thinking (the way someone thinks).
同家族的字
- right-mindednearly the same idea, with minded instead of thinking
