To revert means to go back to an earlier state, habit, or way of doing something - like reverting to old habits, or a document reverting to an earlier version. In British and Asian business English, 'revert' is also commonly used to mean 'reply', as in 'I will revert to you by Friday' - though this usage can sound strange to American English speakers, who only know the first meaning.
