Reverential also means showing a lot of respect and admiration. It is very close to reverent. If there is a difference, it is small: reverential often describes the way something is done — a reverential silence, a reverential bow, a reverential tone of voice. It sounds a bit more formal and than reverent. You will meet it in writing more than in casual speech. People do stretch it: a “reverential” review of a famous film may just mean the writer is almost too respectful, as if they dare not find fault.
