Respectfully means doing or saying something in a way that shows respect — polite, careful not to step on the other person. You listen respectfully; you speak respectfully even when you are upset. A set phrase is I respectfully disagree: you still disagree, but you are not trying to insult them. Old letters used Yours respectfully as a closing; that is rare now, and Yours sincerely / Best wishes do the everyday job. The word is ordinary and a little careful, at home in school, work, and formal talk.
