Reporting is the work of writing the news for a paper, or telling people the news on television or on the radio. Someone can go into reporting, meaning they take that as a job. You also hear live reporting from a scene: a person is there, talking as things happen. It is the everyday cousin of the more French-sounding . Though actually, offices use the same spelling for sending numbers and updates to a manager — “monthly reporting.” That is a different habit of the word. This sense is the news one. A report is often the finished piece; reporting is the activity, the job, the ongoing telling. Students sometimes use reporting for any telling of facts, even a chat after class; that is loose. Keep this sense for news work.
「reporting」指替報紙寫新聞，或在電視、廣播上報導新聞的工作，也可以說是這個行業本身。例如「live reporting」是人在現場，邊發生邊報導。它比聽起來比較法式的 reportage 更口語、更日常。
