In physics, relativity is Einstein’s picture of how time, space, and movement fit together. The short version people repeat is that time and space are not fixed for everyone: they depend on how you are moving, and nothing with mass can go faster than light. There are two famous parts. Special relativity (1905) deals with steady motion and gave us E = mc². General relativity (1915) is about gravity: mass bends space and time, and that bending is what we feel as gravity. Scientists still use both every day — GPS clocks have to allow for them, or your map would slowly go wrong. Though actually, when everyday English says “it’s all relative,” that is a loose slogan, not Einstein’s theory. He was not saying that every opinion is as good as every other. He was saying very exact things about measuring rods, clocks, and light.
