- 1
A person whose job is to keep official records and lists — for example, at a university, the registrar's office handles student records, course registration, and grades. At a hospital in the UK, a 'registrar' is also a mid-level doctor, still training but more senior than a junior doctor. There's also the town or city registrar, who records births, deaths, and marriages.
