Reforestation is the practice of planting trees again in a place where they were cut down or lost, so a forest can grow back. People do it to grow wood for industry, or to help the land, the air, and the water. It is an environment, geography, and news word. The important piece is again: there was forest, then it went, then trees are put back. Though actually, it is slow work. A hillside of young trees is not a forest yet, and a project can fail if the wrong trees are planted or nobody cares for them. You will see it in reports about climate, floods, and logging.
