A reflector is an object made to reflect light back toward where it came from, usually to make something easier to see, especially at night. The small red or white pieces of plastic or glass on the back of a bicycle, on road signs, or on the sides of roads are all reflectors - they don't glow by themselves, they just bounce light from car headlights back at the driver. Telescopes and some also use curved mirrors called reflectors to gather or direct light.
