To reflate is what a government or a central bank tries to do when it wants more money moving in the country, so that shops sell more and factories make more. Tools include cheaper loans and extra public spending. The word was built as the opposite of deflate: if deflate means squeezing the air out of the economy, reflate means putting some back. You meet it in newspapers and economics class, not in the market. Though actually, everyday talk often names the process (reflation) more than the verb; and reflate is not the same as inflate. Inflate is prices climbing. Reflate is a policy aim: wake trade up. The two can blur, which is why people argue about it.
