In Christian talk, the Redeemer is Jesus Christ. The old meaning of redeem is to buy someone out of trouble or debt, and Christians use that picture for what Jesus does: he saves people. You will see it with a capital R, and often with “the”: the Redeemer. It belongs in churches, church songs, and the Bible, not in everyday shopping English. Though actually, without the capital letter, a redeemer can be anyone who redeems something (even a coupon), but that is a different, much smaller use; this entry is the religious title.
