Reconciliation is the process of making things right again between people or groups who had a serious disagreement — going from conflict and distance back to a friendly, working relationship. It's used for personal relationships ('reconciliation between the two brothers after years apart'), for countries and communities after conflict ('a national reconciliation process'), and even for ideas or numbers that seem to disagree, where 'reconciling' them means finding a way to make them fit together (like reconciling two different reports of the same event).
