To reconcile means to become friends again with someone after an argument or a period of not speaking - to make peace. You can also reconcile two ideas, facts, or plans that seem to disagree with each other, meaning you find a way to make them fit together or make sense at the same time, like "I can't reconcile what he said with what he actually did." In money and business, to "reconcile" accounts means to check two sets of numbers and make sure they match.
