    To recap is to go over the main points of something again, usually right after people have heard it — a meeting, a lesson, a story, a match. Teachers and presenters love it: “Just to recap…” You can recap (verb), and you can give a recap (noun): a short round-up, not the whole thing said twice. It is informal and very common in speech. Though actually, it is the everyday cousin of the longer word ; recap is what you say in class, is what you put in a careful paper. People also stretch it: a “recap” of a TV episode is a short write-up of what happened, even days later, not only of something just said.
