A read-out is the information a computer or a machine gives you and shows on a screen — a number, a short result, a value. The speed on a car display, the temperature on a hospital monitor, the total that flashes up at the shop: those are read-outs. Older machines printed a read-out on paper; now it is almost always on a screen. Though actually, in everyday talk most people just say the screen or the numbers. Read-out (also written readout, one word) belongs more to technical and news English. It is not the same as reading a text out loud. That is read out as two words, a verb.
read-out 指的是電腦或儀器顯示在螢幕上給你看的資訊，例如汽車儀表板上的時速、醫院監測器上的體溫，或店家螢幕上跳出的總額，都是讀數。舊機器會把讀數印在紙上，現在幾乎都顯示在螢幕上。日常說話時，大多數人只會說螢幕或數字，這個字比較屬於技術和新聞用語，也可以寫成一個字 readout。要注意它和大聲唸出文字不同，那是 read out 兩個字，是動詞。
