When something re-forms, it comes together again after it has broken apart or gone away. A band that split up years ago may re-form for a few concerts. Ice on a lake can melt in the sun and then re-form at night. You can also re-form a team or a committee: you make that group exist again. Though actually, this is not the same word as reform, the one without a . Reform means to change a law, a school, or a person's ways to make them better. Writers often drop the in a hurry, so you have to read the whole sentence to know which they mean. Re-form is not kitchen English; you meet it in news about groups, and in talk about things in nature that take shape a second time.
re-form 指原本散開或消失的東西，又重新聚在一起。例如「A band that split up years ago may re-form for a few concerts.」，意思是解散好幾年的樂團，可能為了幾場演唱會重新組成。也可以用在團隊或委員會上，像「re-form a team」，指讓那個團體再度成立。湖面的冰在白天融化，晚上又會重新凍起來，也是 re-form。
要注意，它和沒有連字號的 reform 不一樣。reform 是改革，指把法律、學校或人的做法改得更好。寫作的人有時會急著省掉連字號，所以要看整句話才知道是哪一個字。re-form 比較常見於談團體的新聞，或描述大自然中的東西再次形成。
