To re-enact something is to perform again the actions of a real event from the past — a battle, a wedding, a crime, a famous speech. People at a museum may re-enact an old fight in old clothes. Police or a TV news show may ask someone to re-enact what happened in the street last night, step by step, so others can see it. It is acting, but the point is to copy a true past, not to invent a new story. Though actually, lawyers and governments also re-enact a law, meaning they pass that law again; that is a different, more paper-and-parliament use. In school English you will meet the “act it out again” sense first. You re-enact an event, not a feeling. British spelling often keeps the (re-enact); American spelling often reenact.
