Rasta is a short, informal way to say : a person who follows Rastafari, a religion and way of life that grew in Jamaica. People also use it like an adjective: Rasta music, Rasta colours (red, gold and green). Friends may say it . In careful writing, is the safer full form. Though actually, not everyone with dreadlocks is a Rasta, and shrinking the word to hair, , or cannabis misses the faith at the centre. It is a nickname for a believer, not just a look.
