Rantings are the words themselves: a long stretch of loud, heated, messy complaint. English almost always uses the plural: his rantings, the rantings of… It often sounds colder than a rant. If you call something a rant, you might still be half-joking, even about yourself. If you call them rantings, you are more often waving the speech away, as if it is not worth following. You will meet it in news and in stories more than in kind everyday talk. Though actually, some people still say rantings just to mean a long angry speech without trying to be cruel; the tidy 'always rude' reading is tidier than life. It is not a science word, and it is not a song.
