To rant is to talk or complain in a loud, heated, and rather messy way because you feel strongly. The words come out in a rush; they are not neat. People rant about rules, news, family, work. It is informal, and it often sounds a little about the speaker — as if they are going on too long and not thinking clearly. Though actually, people also use it of themselves, with a smile: sorry, that was a rant, or here comes a rant, especially online, where a rant is also a noun: a long burst of that heated talk. It is stronger and messier than complain, and it is not a calm argument. You can rant without shouting, but the feeling is still 'up and running on'.

From Dutch ranten 'to talk nonsense, rave', from Middle Dutch ranten, of uncertain origin.
借自荷蘭文 ranten「胡說」，更早的來源不明。
組成From Dutch ranten, randen (to talk nonsense, rave), from Middle Dutch ranten (to rant, babble). After that the origin is not certain; it is apparently related to German ranzen (to jump around, frolic).
