Rafting is the activity of travelling on a raft, especially as a sport or a holiday. What people usually picture is white-water rafting: a group in a big inflatable boat, down a fast river, a guide shouting when to dig in. Calmer trips on a lake or a quiet river can also be called rafting, but the kind is the default in travel talk. It is a leisure word, not a builder's word — so it is not about roof , even though those look similar on the page.
