    Radiography is the taking of medical pictures of the inside of the body, especially with X-rays, so that doctors can look for a broken bone, a bad tooth, fluid in the chest, and many other problems. It names the method and the work, not the person — the person is a . Patients almost always just say “X-ray.” Staff and textbooks say radiography. Though actually, radiography is narrower than radiology: radiography is making the image; radiology is the wider medical field that also includes reading the image and, in some branches, using radiation to treat.
