    When things are radial, they are set out like the spokes of a wheel: bars or lines start at a centre and go out all around. A window, a flower, or a street plan can be radial. In more technical talk the same picture holds: a radial tyre has its inner lines running out from the middle; in the body, radial can mean “along the radius,” the bone on the thumb side of the arm. The everyday idea is still “from the centre, out.”
