A racecourse is a grass track where horses race, and often the whole grounds around it: the stands, the betting windows, the place where the horses walk before the start. In British English this is the usual word. Americans more often say racetrack. Though actually course here does not mean a class at school; it means the path the horses follow. You go to a racecourse to watch the , not to study. A running track for people is a different place.
