Quantitative means to do with amounts, not with how good or what kind something is. A quantitative question asks how many or how much. Quantitative research counts and measures: scores, times, money, survey numbers. The sister word is , which looks at quality and kind — stories, interviews, what something is like. In universities you will hear this pair all the time. Though actually, a lot of real studies mix both, and the neat split is tidier than the work. If someone says a change was quantitative, they mean the numbers moved, not that the thing became a different kind of thing.
