Qualitatively is the adverb: in a way that is about kind or standard, not about amount. Writers use it when two things are different in type, not only in size — these two classes are qualitatively different means they are not the same sort of thing, even if the numbers look close. You will almost only see this word in academic writing. In speech, people say in quality, in kind, or in a different way. Though actually, it does not by itself mean “better”; it only says the difference is about nature, not about counting.
