A pushchair is a small seat on wheels for a young child. An adult pushes it along. This is the usual British word; American English says . It is for a child who can already sit up; a newborn is more often in a lie-flat or a . It is not a wheelchair (that is for a person who cannot walk easily), and it is not a shopping trolley. The word is everyday family language in Britain and in other places that follow British English. In shops you will also see buggy, which some people use for a lighter pushchair.
