This is a very formal noun, and you almost never see it standing alone. The shape you will meet is in pursuance of — while you are carrying something out, or in order to do it. In pursuance of her duties, she checked every file. In office and legal English it can mean 'as we follow / carry out' a contract, a plan, or a rule. Ordinary people almost never say it; they say while doing, in order to, or to follow. Though actually, some writers put in pursuance of on the page just to sound official, even when while doing would be clearer. If you leave out the in … of frame, the word feels unfinished.
