Purification is the process of making something pure — taking out dirt, , or anything harmful, especially from water, air, or other substances. It's a fairly big, formal word, used in science and technical writing, like 'water purification' at a treatment plant. It's also used for religious or spiritual ceremonies meant to make a person clean in a symbolic way, for example using water, fire, or incense.
淨化(水、空氣等);也可指宗教上的潔淨儀式。
組成pure + -ify (to make) + -ation (turns it into a noun). From Latin 'purificare,' built from 'purus' (pure) + 'facere' (to make).
